Boys represent SJB for the first time at the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships

Congratulations to six of our boys who competed in the South and Southeast Qualifiers for the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships. Our team included AJ (Year 6), Paddy (Year 4), Alex (Year 4), Eddie (Year 4), Reuben (Year 3), and Ming (Year 3). The boys competed in both running and swimming, in which they gained points from each event. Their points were then combined, giving them their total scores and positions. Only the top three from each regional qualifier who scored above 2000 automatically qualified for the finals at the Abbey Stadium in Birmingham.

We are delighted to announce that two of our boys qualified for the finals in March; Eddie came third in his age group and AJ finished in second place overall. Our relay team, consisting of Paddy, Alex and Eddie also finished first place!

This was the first time St John’s entered the event so this is a fantastic outcome, and all the boys should be proud of themselves. When speaking to some of the boys they described the day as nerve-wracking but exciting and that they would “definitely enter next year”.

This week, in assembly, Dr Smith presented some of the team with their medals and congratulated them on their efforts.

We would like to wish AJ and Eddie good luck for the finals, we cannot wait to hear about how you get on!
