GOSPEL THEME OF THE WEEK

Mrs Katnik, Head of RE, has been creating a weekly ‘Theme of the Week’ slideshow for tutor time. It is linked with the Gospel that is read out at Mass on Sunday at St John’s Beaumont School.

This year, we are focussing on hearing the word and trying to respond to it, as Pope Francis announced the year of 2020 as ‘The Year of the Word’.

The Catholic Bishop’s Conference of England and Wales have designated 2020 as The God who Speaks: A year of the Word to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Verbum Domini – Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Exhortation on ‘The Word of the Lord’. This also commemorates the 1600th anniversary of the death of St. Jerome who translated the Bible into Latin.

The Year of the Word is a time we are invited to celebrate, live and share God’s word. In order for our whole school community to engage with the Word of God, tutor’s share Sunday’s Gospel message through our ‘Theme of the Week’ slideshow. It would also be wonderful if as families, you could also discuss the theme of the week at home and reflect on the Gospel.
