Pre-Prep Half-Term News

It has been another busy few weeks in Pre-Prep, topped off by an action-packed last week of term focusing on Children’s Mental Health.

Nursery have well and truly settled into life at St John’s and have taken on their phonics and numeracy lessons with gusto! The children have been learning all about the digestive system and healthy eating…they enjoyed drawing fruits together on a huge piece of paper, then learning to chop their own fruit and advanced to making delicious (albeit a bit squashed) sandwiches.

Our Reception children have continued to blossom, presenting amazing topics for their time-to-talk projects. Their hand-writing and reading is so impressive! They have also been learning all about Lunar New Year and in a special Open Morning activity created incredible dragon heads to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

Blandyke and Berchmans both presented to their family and friends wonderful assemblies this term – it is really encouraging to see how much the children have grown in confidence in just a few short months. Berchmans have been proving their entrepreneurial spirit, continuing on from their letter writing task last term, they created lots of sweet valentines craft and sold it during drop-off – raising more than £160 towards their new playground equipment. Chizara announced they have chosen frisbees, so do watch out if you are passing the playground at breaktime!

Well done to all of our littlest musicians who so confidently played in the Pre-Prep music concert this week as well.
