SCHOLARSHIP TALK: FINANCIAL TECH IN AFRICA
Article by Dominic O’B (Year 8)
On the 21st of January, SJB parent, Mr O’Brien came to give a talk on financial tech in Africa. He also talked about the economy and inflation.
He spoke about the movement of money throughout history for example, the remittance corridor and how money passes through different countries. We learned about why money has its worth and about central banks, and the people who print money and try increase the worth of their country’s currency. We also learned why different currencies go up and down in price, for example the dollar is the currency most used because it doesn’t fluctuate.
The boys really enjoyed the talk and had a lot of questions for Mr O’Brien.
