SJB TOGETHER – 26TH MARCH 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The excitement and pleasure of seeing the boys return to school earlier this month seem like only yesterday. What an industrious and purposeful three weeks it has been! Your sons deserve tremendous recognition for the manner in which they have continually adjusted during this period and for the success that they have facilitated, both in their academic studies and socially, amongst their teachers and peers.
It has been lovely to see that same sense of energy and creativity go towards last week’s PSHE Day, this week’s science activities, yesterday’s Tenebrae service and any number of specially planned events in classes. The boys have been willing to give every last ounce of energy to get the very best out of each opportunity and I very much hope they will have the opportunity to both enjoy and gain benefit from the coming Easter holidays.
To this end, can I point the boys to our recent ‘Books of the Week’ which have been carefully chosen to offer new genres and authors for them to explore at their leisure? However, even better would be for the boys themselves to recommend new books they have explored during this holiday. If they do come across such a book that they feel they would like to recommend to their peers then I would encourage them to write to me with their reviews once they are ready and we will look to include some of them during the course of the summer term.
We say a sad farewell to Miss Carver in the Pre-Prep this term. I would like to thank her for the commendable effort and commitment she has given to so many boys during her six years at the School. Her creativity and kindness will long be remembered and we wish her every possible success and happiness for the future. We also say goodbye to Mr Baker who has spent the past two terms with us, covering Miss Dos Santos’ maternity leave. Mr Baker has proved to be an inspirational teacher of science during this time and we very much hope to see him return to St John’s very soon.
I wish you a peaceful and relaxing Easter and look forward to seeing you all back at the beginning of an exciting Summer term.
