ST JOHN’S SWIMMERS MAKING A BIG SPLASH

St John’s Beaumont School has reason to celebrate with the provisional results from the IAPS Swimming Championships Qualifiers. This is a momentous occasion for the school, as it is the most important swimming competition we participate in. The qualifier held on the 10th of March last term saw the school achieve one of our best-ever qualifying results with sixteen events qualified for.

The provisional results are as follows:

In the U10 category, the team achieved 6th place in the Medley Relay, 9th place in the Freestyle Relay, and Paddy O’N secured 4th place in the U10 25m Freestyle. Lorenzo C achieved 7th place in the U10 25m Backstroke, while Patrick K achieved 9th place in the U10 25m Breaststroke. Gus M secured 38th place in the U10 25m Butterfly.

The IAPS Swimming Championships is a highly competitive event, with over 400 schools entering the competition. The fastest 1500 swimmers are invited to the national finals at the London Aquatics Centre in June, supported by 3000 spectators on the day. These results are still provisional; however, they are unlikely to change leading up to the deadline.

St John’s Beaumont has every reason to be proud of the boys’ achievement, and we wish them the best of luck in the upcoming finals.

Many thanks to Mr Kyriacou for the continued work that he does with the boys in the pool! The pool is open on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 7:15am for development training.
