Headteacher’s Welcome
I am delighted to welcome you to St John’s Beaumont Preparatory School: an outstanding preparatory school for children aged between 3 and 13 in the Jesuit tradition.
At St John’s, we welcome girls and boys of all backgrounds and faiths whose parents recognise in our Jesuit values and approach to education, something they wish to nurture in their own children. The school was opened in 1888 and built an outstanding reputation as a boys’ school. This year we announced a move to co-education beginning with the pre-preparatory section (Nursery to Year 2) with a plan to expand co-education up the school with each passing year. We believe that boys and girls will benefit enormously from this in their development of social skills as well as the breadth and depth of their academic achievement.
A child’s growth at St John’s is the culmination of a strong partnership between school and home. We firmly believe that happy children make the best progress and together with parents, we keep this focus for every child to ensure they are cognitively at their optimum at all times. We want to work together to establish values and a way of thinking that will influence a child’s whole life; not simply defined through their school achievements but also in time by the kind of partner, colleague or potentially parent they become.
St John’s is a very special place to work and to learn. Our pupils are offered every possible opportunity to excel in a wide variety of areas, both academically, but importantly also in the wider curriculum as well. St John’s naturally suits children who are open-minded, spiritual and compassionate but also critical thinkers and risk takers.
From the sports field to the classroom, and from moments of reflection to expressions of creativity, your child will feel nurtured and supported in our community. They will learn to see opportunity and challenge as something valuable and enriching and develop a mindset that is agile in the face of adversity.
I hope that in reading our website you feel compelled to visit us and see for yourself what makes a St John’s education something refreshingly different. We welcome visits to our school every day during term times, as well as having open mornings during the year to profile particular aspects of the school.
